Galileo Galilei

Galileo Galilei was born February 15'th, 1564. He was born in Florence, Italy and was fully italian. He studied astronomy, physics and mathematics, and he was mostly known for the improvement of the telescope. He played a major role in the Science Revolution. His is also now known as "father of modern science." He discovered many planets and satelites (moons). He discovered four of jupiters moons, which they named the "Galilean Moons" in his honour of finding them.
In 1610, Galileo decided to support the "heliocentric" theory, which stated the earth actually rotates around the sun instead of the sun rotated around the earth. Since he supported this theory, he was accused of heresy, which is when you oppose the church's beliefs. In 1616 February, the chuch condemned heliocentrism has a false statement, and Galileo was warned that he should not support it which he decided to do. But when he published "Dialogue Concerning the Two Chiefs World Systems" which is a book that states the earth rotates around the sun. This book created suspicion that he opposed the churches beliefs. He was then again charged of heresy, and spent the rest of his life under house arrest.
